Girl Effect is an organisation working to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. We do this by investing in programmes for girls, connecting girls to each other to amplify their voices, and brokering access to the critical assets girls need. We drive behaviour change by harnessing media in innovative ways and building social networks to shift girls’ perceptions of themselves and how others value them.
When a girl is better educated, has access to sexual and reproductive healthcare information and services, has access and control of economic assets, is safe from violence and exploitation, and has the capabilities and confidence to make positive choices, she can break the cycle of poverty. That’s why we’re working to reach 250 million girls living in poverty with the tools and assets they need to achieve their full potential by 2030. We currently operate in Rwanda, Nigeria and Ethiopia with headquarters in London.
Girl Effect Rwanda’s mission is to enable Rwanda’s more than one million adolescent girls (aged 10-19) to fulfil their potential. We work across four areas: partnering with leaders to deliver for girls; developing innovations in girl programming; working through our brand platform Ni Nyampinga to inspire and enable girls; and generating girl-led insights and evidence. Our work aims to encourage investments that will benefit Rwandan girls – in systems, culture, government and industry. These investments will realise Rwanda's Vision 2020.
The role of Deputy Country Director is a new role in our Rwanda team, which has come about due to exciting growth and development in the organisation. We are looking for an energetic and inspiring leader, who is passionate about our work, to join the team and support the Country Director in managing, guiding and providing strategic and operational support to the organisation. The Deputy Country Director will be fully responsible for Rwanda's programme planning and reporting, for human resources and will have oversight of our finance and operations function in Rwanda.
In the case of an expatriate appointment, relocation, accommodation and immigration support will be offered to the successful candidate.
